Arda is seeking senior product designers to help build the future of manufacturing in the USA. If you’re looking to solve hard problems that matter, own end-to-end workflows, and ship high-quality software that will define how things get made, we’d love to meet you!

BLUF

Great role for an experienced (4+ years) product designer wanting to take on complex design challenges in a fast-paced startup environment. Should be able to own hard design problems independently at a high quality bar, bring systems thinking across design system + platform IA, and comfortable shipping in an AI-native, agentic workflow.

Could be a designer from a company like Palantir, a high-velocity B2B/enterprise startup, or a similar environment where they've shipped software fast and grown quickly. Probably not: an agency designer, a pure-visual/brand designer, or an [exclusively] consumer/mobile app designer.

Expected Activities

This hire will be expected to engage flexibly across initiatives.

  • Project execution — own the day-to-day of executing projects across feature sets, especially the challenging design problems, at a high quality bar with limited oversight.
  • Design system management — contribute to maintaining and extending our component library (both atoms and bits), and help scale agentic design — rules, skills, etc. — for agents building Arda features.
  • Platform design — information architecture, core patterns, and tending to the Arda design garden as a whole so individual features strengthen the system rather than fragment it.
  • Ship in code — Arda designers work in an agentic, AI-native way and are comfortable shipping code. Not expected to always own end-to-end implementation, but should be fluent enough to prototype in code and contribute production changes rather than handing off static mocks.

Characteristics

  • SF or NYC-based — should be willing to travel a bit and interested in getting onsite, but no more than ~10%
  • High agency / thrives with limited oversight — can be handed a hard, underspecified problem and drive it to a high-quality shipped outcome without close direction.
  • Strong interaction design — Arda is tricky software with many surfaces and patterns; handles that gracefully with attention to state, flow, and edge cases.
  • Systems thinking — understands how a design system and platform IA hold together, and designs individual features so they reinforce the whole.
  • Strong taste and quality bar — sweats the details that make dense enterprise software feel clear and inevitable rather than complicated.
  • Comfort with ambiguity — energized rather than stalled by open-ended, fast-moving problem spaces.
  • Appetite to grow — we’re in a brave new design world, and we’ll need someone willing to reinvent their processes, workflow, etc. to accommodate an agentic world

Potential backgrounds

  • Product designer at a high-velocity B2B/enterprise startup who's owned complex, stateful surfaces end to end
  • Palantir (or similar) designer used to shipping dense enterprise software fast, wanting more ownership
  • Probably not: agency designer, pure-visual/brand designer, or consumer/mobile app designer

Interview process

  • Round 1
    • Pierce 30 min behavioral screen
    • Pierce 1 hr portfolio review
  • Round 2
    • Alex 1 hr behavioral screen
  • 2-day work trial
    • Work trial that will revolve around a scoped but ambiguous design challenge
