Contract: 12 months B2B
Start: April (flexible for the right profile)
Overview We’re hiring hands-on Data Engineers / Analytics Engineers to build and migrate modern data platforms. This is not a legacy support role and not a Power BI / Power Query shop.
The focus is code-first data engineering: pipelines, transformations, orchestration, and scalable analytics infrastructure. You’ll be working with a technically strong lead who provides clear direction and context.
If you like building things properly, avoiding vendor lock-in, and treating analytics engineering like software engineering, this will suit you.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build data pipelines and transformation layers
- Implement code-first analytics workflows (no low-code / GUI-heavy tooling)
- Develop and manage transformations using SQL-first approaches
- Contribute to new platform builds or migrations to modern architectures
- Work with orchestration frameworks to schedule and manage workloads
- Use Git, CLI-based tooling, and engineering best practices
- Collaborate in a small, senior team with clear technical ownership
- Strong SQL (non-negotiable)
- Solid data engineering fundamentals
- Experience working in code-driven analytics environments
- Comfort with Git-based workflows and version control
- Experience with at least one cloud platform (Azure, GCP, AWS — flexible)
- Python (strong preference)
- DBT (or equivalent transformation frameworks)
- Orchestration tools such as Airflow
- Experience with BigQuery / Dataflow / Dataform or similar modern tooling
- PySpark experience is a plus, but usage should be confirmed per project
- Background in aviation or travel (nice to have, not essential)
This role exists to build, modernise, and scale, not babysit legacy systems.
Working Style & Environment
- Mac-first / BYOD environment (no Windows-only toolchains)
- Strong preference for CLI, Python-style tooling, and reproducible builds
- Engineering-led decision-making, not dashboard-driven politics
- Small, focused team
- 12-month B2B contract
- Frankfurt-based or fully remote within Europe
- Competitive day rate aligned with senior-level engineering profiles
- Senior Data Engineers or Analytics Engineers who hate low-code
- Builders who want to leave something solid behind
- Engineers who value portability, clean architecture, and ownership
